Emirates EK205 Dubai to Milan International Economy Meals

Emirates

Emirates are famed for their cuisine, using ingredients and meals that are famous in the destination countries.

Economy Class customers enjoy a complete range of complimentary drinks including aperitifs, spirits, beers and a choice of excellent red and white wines, except on flights to Saudi Arabia. Champagne is also available, at a reasonable cost.

EK205 Adelaide to Dubai to Milan

This flight departs Dubai at 09.10am and arrives in Milan at at 1.10pm, a 7 hour flight.

On this flight, we were served a breakfast meal and a lunch meal.

Beverages

Economy Class customers have access to complimentary drinks including aperitifs, spirits, beers, and a choice of red and white wines. Champagne is also available, at a cost of US$15 a glass.

I opted just for water on this leg of the trip.

Meals

On this 7 hour flight, there are two meals.

The first meal was a continental breakfast meal, followed by a lunch meal before we landed.

The standard economy dinner tray included some snacks that could be enjoyed later, bagel chips with salsa and crackers with cream cheese. These were missing from the VGML vegetarian tray, even though the snacks were all vegetarian. Luckily Mr Wino didn’t mind sharing, even the little square of chocolate!

For my vegetarian VGML continental breakfast, there was:

  • Fresh fruit;
  • Mixed salads (curried lentil, French bean with potato and olives, 1/4 boiled egg, tomato);
  • Croissant with jam and butter.

The salads were particularly tasty. Both had plenty of flavour and were fresh and innovative. I especially enjoyed the French bean, potato and olive salad. The egg added a nice source of protein.

The non-vegetarian (standard) Continental Breakfast was the same, but without the salads and instead a cheese selection of Red Leicester and Labneh. They were tasty too!

 For my vegetarian VGML lunch meal, there was:

  • Mixed salads (French bean with potato and olives, 1/4 boiled egg);
  • Main dish;
  • Bread roll with butter;
  • Chocolate and orange cake.

The main dish was tasty.

Still crunchy and surprisingly not stringy asparagus, and steamed capsicum, were sides to the main event. Ravioli filled with beetroot and ricotta was served with a richly flavoursome tomato sauce, and topped with flakes of parmesan cheese.

It was quite filling.

The non-vegetarian (standard) lunch meal was a choice of Jalepeno Chicken with a chickpea and moghrabeh salad; or; a Roast Chicken with Thyme Sauce served with mashed potato and steamed vegetables. Instead of the choc orange cake, there was banana cake.

Beverages

I opted for a red wine, and on this flight was the Chapoutier Pays D’Oc Grenache Syrah 2014, 13.5% alcohol.

Well Looky Here

Bright purple red, crimson rim.

Sniff Sniff

Raspberry, black cherry! Not spicy, a touch of leather.whiff of violets

Sip Sip

Fresh cherries, Juicy white pepper, enhanced by tomato chili sauce. Bright raspberry, something darker, a little dusty soil.

Overall I was pretty impressed with the economy meals on Emirates from Dubai to Milan.

I found it a particularly nice touch that the main meal was Italian inspired, given that Milan was our destination.

The wine choices were also above average, being very international, different on each leg of our journey so creating a good point of interest.
