    Aldinga Beach Australia

Not only is McLaren Vale “the most exciting wine region in Australia” in accordance with The Wine Wankers, but the region is also abundant with brilliant produce and lots of entrepreneurs.

Including two new resident food trucks.

Boy we’re spoiled here in Paradise! (Click here for more about McLaren Vale).

On a sunny Autumn Friday evening, down to Aldinga Beach Boat Ramp we go, to partake in a little sunset watching, with a side of generous American food from Shredded Wrap & Roll Food Truck – one of two resident food trucks in McLaren Vale.

Scott & Kelly combine their loves of surfing and real American food in this van, which you will see parked Fridays for dinner, Saturday and Sunday for both lunch and dinner during the warmer months and daylight saving times (Oct to April).

Decorations leave you in no doubt that this is perfect beachside food.

The menu spans a variety of flavours that you can choose to have in a wrap or roll, from meat burritos and yiros, to a veggie burrito, salad, and sometimes a dessert special. The prices are from $8-12, and just a few dollars more at festivals and events.

Place your order and they are prepared freshly from meats that are slow cooked in house blend spices for hours before being pulled.

There’s never any problem for me to get a vegetarian burrito.

While Scott & Kelly prepare our goodies, we turn to nature’s show.

Yes, it is tough living in McLaren Vale.

Beats a tv dinner on the couch doesn’t it?

Before too long, my veggie burrito is in hand. In true Tex Mex style, a flour tortilla is spread with refried beans, Mexican flavoured rice, lettuce,  cheddar cheese, sour cream, guacamole and house made salsa. I always opt for the addition of both chilli additions: jalepenos and hot sauce.

Burritos come chock-full of ingredients, they are solid and filling.

By the time dinner is finished, the sun has gone to bed.

The fairies make the most of what is left of the fading light to play.

Just another evening in McLaren Vale.

Little wonder I call it Paradise.

Long may our food trucks make dinner by the beach, easy, tasty, healthy, and beautiful.
