Deep Woods Margaret River Cabernet Merlot 2010 Wine Tasting Review

Margaret River is known for it’s chardonnay and it’s cabernet sauvignon.

By and large, if you opt for one of those two at cellar door or bottle shop, you will be onto a winner.

With Daddy Wino and Step Mum Wino, Mr Wino & I packed into a hire car and explored the Margaret River in 2010. We brought home some trinkets, including this.

Old Merlot has had a bit of a “boring” reputation, but its plummy, chocolatey, smooth mid palate make it a good match for cab which can sometimes have a “hole” in it’s mid palate with bold primary herbaceousness and grippy tannin.

Well Looky Here

Crimson and bright.

Sniff Sniff

Varietal green capsicum, stands out, with supporting notes from dusty spices, a hint of star anise, and blackcurrant.

Sip Sip

Rich, black stewed fruit, dusty spice, give way to savoury oak and leather after tastes.

Nicely integrated tannin is met with juiciness on the finish.

Drinking well now.
