You can’t come to Melbourne and not eat (or drink!) in a laneway. It is the lynchpin of any trip. And, as is my want, I always try to seek out organic, local, veg*an eateries which in Melbs pop up regularly.
TOFWD is a stalwart, having been tucked into eat st Degraves, mere steps from Flinders station, since 1999.

In Degreaves which is parallel to Elizabeth St, you can dine in the middle of the lane and people watch while enjoying the wares from any number of small eateries, including The Organic Food & Wine Deli.
TOFWD has incorporated sustainability throughout their whole operations. Everything is organic or course, the coffee fair trade, containers & cutlery compostable, and even the shop fit out has been done with biodegradable paints.
Amongst their groceries & take away savoury treats, breaky is a specialty.

The vegan bircher museli is generously topped with fresh blueberries and coconut yogurt. The museli itself is packed with pepitas & sunflower seeds. It has a lovely cinnamon & citrus kick and has loads of crunchy shredded apple.
Teamed with an organic juice of beetroot, celery, apple and ginger, it is an extremely virtuous and Melbourne start to your day.

Well worth a visit for ethical & healthy treats plus take away goodies for later.
